Most people think of granolas as healthy breakfast options, and why not? They have oats, nuts, seeds, and dried fruits that are considered to be good for your body. However, packaged granolas have hidden sugars, fats, and high calories that do more damage than you might think.

French biochemist Jessie Inchauspé took to her Instagram account and shared that store-bought granolas aren’t as healthy as they are made out to be. Consuming them in the morning can cause several health issues, including blood sugar spikes, which play havoc with your system.

“I know the packaging pretends it’s a health food but honestly, it’s just glucose, and having that first thing in the morning is going to send you on a glucose roller coaster, meaning brain fog, fatigue, hunger, and cravings,” she warned.

But does that mean you do away with them entirely? She suggested, “If you want something sweet-tasting that doesn’t spike your glucose, make sure it’s centred around proteins with healthy fats and fibre and nothing sweet except whole fruit.”
