The Yash Chopra Foundation (YCF), the philanthropic arm of Yash Raj Films, has launched a transformative initiative to mark the 92nd birth anniversary of its founder, the legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra. The newly introduced YCF Scholarship Program aims to provide essential financial support to children of Hindi film industry workers from low-income backgrounds.
This initiative ensures that the often-overlooked backbone of the film industry is not forgotten. To be eligible, the workers must be registered members of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), ensuring that their children have access to this life-changing opportunity based on merit.
The YCF Scholarship Program offers comprehensive financial assistance to deserving candidates, helping them pursue undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in fields such as Mass Communication, Filmmaking, Production & Direction, Visual Arts, Cinematography, and Animation. Each student can receive up to INR 5 lakhs, making this a significant investment in the future of the film industry's next generation.
This initiative reflects the Foundation's dedication to uplifting talented youth within the Hindi film fraternity, providing not only financial aid but also creating pathways for these individuals to contribute meaningfully to an industry their families have long been a part of.
Akshaye Widhani, CEO of Yash Raj Films, shared his thoughts on this special initiative: “Yash Chopra, our founder, always believed in giving back to the Hindi film industry in every way possible. His philosophy has been woven into the very fabric of our company. So, on his 92nd birth anniversary, we are proud to launch a program aimed at empowering the children of Hindi film fraternity members. We are confident this initiative will encourage deserving students to pursue their dreams and leave their own legacy in the industry."
