Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor’s relationship was once the talk of Bollywood. Their romance began while shooting Siddharth Anand’s Bachna Ae Haseeno, and the two quickly became one of the most adored couples in the industry. They dated for two years before parting ways in 2009, with reports at the time suggesting that Ranbir had cheated on Deepika with Katrina Kaif.

Years later, during an episode of Koffee With Karan, Deepika candidly spoke about the emotional toll the breakup took on her. She admitted that it was “very, very difficult” for her to cope after the relationship ended. At that time, she was still new to the city, and her world had revolved entirely around Ranbir.

“It was very, very difficult for me because somewhere, that relationship became my world. I was new to the city, and his friends became my friends, and that life became my life. I don’t think I made the effort to have my own life. That relationship really taught me a lot when it ended. It’s made me a better person today. He says it himself,” Deepika shared.

The actress revealed that she had never made an effort to have a life of her own during that period. Instead, she had immersed herself entirely in the relationship, which left her feeling lost once it ended. The breakup, though painful, became a turning point for her. It pushed her to grow, become more independent, and discover her own identity beyond a relationship.
