Vijay Sethupathi’s Tamil film Maharaja has been making waves internationally, particularly at the Chinese box office. The film, which features an ensemble cast including Anurag Kashyap, Abhirami, and Mamta Mohandas, was initially released in India and received critical acclaim. Now, it has caught the fancy of the Chinese audiences, and is making new box office records.

Maharaja debuted in Chinese theaters on November 29, screening across an astonishing 40000 screens. It earned Rs 5.40 crore during its premiere screenings, followed by Rs 4.60 crore on its opening day. The collections saw a significant boost on the second day, adding Rs 9.30 crore to its earnings. With a two-day total of Rs 19.30 crore, the movie established itself as a formidable contender among recent Tamil releases.

The film's performance continued strong on the seventh day, earning Rs 3.90 crore (USD 0.46 million). As of now, Maharaja has accumulated a total collection of Rs 40.75 crore (USD 4.82 million) in China.

Globally, the film has amassed an impressive Rs 146.88 crore in total earnings. Domestically, the net collection stands at Rs 72.41 crore, with a gross collection of Rs 81.83 crore.
