Bad Newz actors Vicky Kaushal, Tripti Dimri, and Punjabi singer-actor Ammy Virk were in the national capital today (July 15) to promote their upcoming comedy.
The actors were in a mood to converse with the media and did full justice to the meeting by answering all the questions thrown at them.
Moneycontrol.com asked him about the different kinds of roles she plays, and at one point in time he was shooting for a historical drama, Chhava, and then switching to Bad Newz. How did he manage? The actor says that is a part of their job, and he loves drama as a genre, but he has tried comedy and hopes people like it too.
"For any actor, there is this urge to do as many different kinds of roles as possible. Luckily, I got to work in many different genres and was offered diverse roles. I have worked with many different directors, and my personal favorite genre is drama and action. While doing comedy, you get a lot of confidence because you have cracked it," said Vicky .
Adding to working in the comedy genre, Vicky said that he hopes people like the movie and that he would then like to do more such films. "There are many legendary actors like Govinda, Akshay sir, Kishore Kumar ji, and even Diljit (Dosanjh) Paaji. They have been absolutely fantastic at the comedy, and we have also tried our hands at it. So, it is a fun film that you can watch with your family while eating popcorn. We have tried our hands at those kinds of hit films, like Deewana Mastana and many others. If people love and accept it, it will boost our confidence a lot. We will keep trying comedy more," he told reporters.
When asked how his wife Katrina Kaif's reaction to the trailer was, especially as there was a mention of hers in it, he said, "She was happy after watching the trailer. She didn't know that she would be in the trailer. I told her that you were also in the trailer, and when she saw the trailer, she spoke about everything else except that moment. Usne kaha haan ye toh theek hai baaki ye achcha laga woh achcha laga. I told her that we have been working on the movie for the past two years, and you just came in one picture in the trailer and took away all the wahwahi," he told reporters.
Vicky also shared some fun moments from the sets of their movie. He said the best day of their shoot that he can remember was when there were a bunch of small kids who were called on the sets. He said that "bashut ronak lagi hui thi, and they were the stars, and everyone was making sure that the kids got pampered and did not throw any tantrums. I said, Itna success pana hai as an actor, jo Mann mein aaya kar rahe hai set sambhaal raha hai."
Ammy Virk, who is seen in many Punjabi films, said there is only one difference between working in a Punjabi or a Bollywood film, and that is the budget. He said Punjabi movies cater to a smaller audience, whereas Hindi films are made for the entire nation.
"Hamare bhi technicians hai woh kaam karte hain Punjab mein, but rehte wohh bhi Mumbai mein hi hai. Budget ka hi hai baat woh films banti hai 3 crore logon ke liye ya max 4 crore ke liye. Agar matlab south mein jaisi filmein ban rahi hai 300 type ki films ban jaye Punjab mein toh, obviously, maam, it will be great. Aaj se 15-20 saal pehle aik ya do films superhit hoti thi. Aaj films are doing Rs 100 crore. Jatt and Juliet earned Rs 100 crore at the box office earlier; Carry On Jatta had earned the same. So it is a big thing for us. We get a lot of boosts from overseas. More than Bollywood, aap bol sakte ho toh zyada difference nahi. Acting hi karni padti hai. From my point of view, I speak Hindi here, or mix it with Punjabi in Bollywood. People accept us," he told reporters as he had some fun interactions with the media.
And talking about working in Bollywood, Ammy further joked that the Hindi film industry is very punctual for shoot times as compared to the Punjabi movie industry.
"I thought that these are big films in Mumbai, and 7 a.m. call time means they will start shooting at 11 a.m., but no, they would bang on our door at 6 a.m., and at 7 a.m., the shot was ready. Then I started liking it and realized that when you wake up at 7 a.m., the day looks so long. (Vicky interrupts and says, "At 4 pm, he would say din khatam hi nahi ho raha"). Punjab mein bhi karte hain kaam lekin jab khud hi producer hote hain toh koi bulane wala hota nahi. Aur alarm hum lagate nahi," said Ammy.
Later, Vicky showed off his dance moves on Tauba Tauba and was joined by both Tripti and Ammy.
