A chowk in Lokhandwala is set to be named Sridevi Chowk in honour of the legendary actress, six years after her passing. The naming ceremony is scheduled for October 12 and will be attended by the Kapoor family, including Boney Kapoor and their daughters, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor.

Sridevi, who began her illustrious career as a child artist in 1967 with the Tamil film Kandhan Karunai, went on to star in numerous iconic films, including Mr. India, Chaalbaaz, and English Vinglish. Her last film, Mom, was released in 2017, marking a poignant end to a remarkable career that spanned over five decades.

The chowk will be located at the junction near her longtime residence, Green Acres Tower, where she lived for many years. This location holds sentimental value, as her funeral procession also passed through the nearby Purshotam Tandon Road.

The decision to honor Sridevi with the naming of the chowk reflects the deep affection and respect her fans and the local community have for her legacy. Residents and municipal authorities requested this tribute, highlighting the impact Sridevi had on Indian cinema and her special connection to the area.
