Samantha Ruth Prabhu slammed by The Liver Doc for selling 'fraud' supplements, latter says 'Beware of snake oil saleswomen'

Samantha Ruth Prabhu is once again at the centre of controversy after receiving criticism for her endorsement of a health supplement.

Renowned physician Dr. Cyriac Abby Philips, popularly known online as The Liver Doc, recently attacked the actress on Instagram, claiming that she was making false health claims about a supplement that contained nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN).

In her promotional post, Samantha highlighted the benefits of NMN, stating, “NAD+ declines with age, leading to lower energy, slower recovery, and reduced focus,” suggesting that NMN supplementation could potentially reverse these effects. The actress shared her support for the brand Gataca, of which she is also a co-founder, saying the product represents a step towards “the future of performance and longevity.”

However, Dr Philips did not hold back in his response. In a scathing Instagram post, he referred to Samantha as “science illiterate” and denounced her for promoting what he labelled “fraud” supplements. “How science illiterate movie celebrities defraud their millions of followers by selling supplements that do not work at all,” he wrote.

He went on to caution followers with a strong statement: “BOTTOM LINE? If you want to age better, focus on the boring things that actually work – diet, exercise, sleep, avoidance of alcohol and tobacco, vaccination. Not on a molecule that can’t even clear Phase 2-quality evidence.”
