Divya's course of action after accident

Eyewitnesses and relatives described the incident as a hit-and-run, claiming that the driver did not stop to assist the victims. A victim’s cousin told India Today, “While on our way to the hospital, near Byatarayanapura Police Station, a lady in a black KIA car hit and ran despite calling her to stop.”

After the accident, police requested that the group help get the injured to the hospital quickly. The seriously injured woman was first taken to New Life Hospital and then shifted to BGS Hospital for further treatment. A complaint was filed two to three days after the incident, following which the police began investigating and identified Divya Suresh as the alleged driver.

CCTV footage confirmed that the car involved belonged to Divya and that she was allegedly driving it, a senior police officer said. “Further investigation in the matter is underway,” he added.

More about the hit and run case

In the mishap, Kiran (25) and Anusha (24) suffered minor injuries and did not require hospitalization. However, Anitha (33) sustained a broken leg and was admitted to BGS Hospital, where surgery was recommended.

Based on a complaint filed by Kiran, a case was registered on October 7 under Sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 125(a) (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with other relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, according to the police.
