Ram Charan's eagerly awaited sports-based action film, written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, is currently in the midst of its shooting phase.
The production is progressing swiftly, with key scenes being filmed in Hyderabad, featuring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor. The movie, which has generated significant anticipation among fans, carries with it high expectations, especially following the disappointing performance of Ram Charan’s previous film, Game Changer, at the box office.
To ensure that RC 16 makes a lasting impact, the filmmakers have enlisted the legendary AR Rahman to compose the film's music and score, reportedly for a higher remuneration. This decision reflects their commitment to making RC 16 a standout project. The film is being jointly produced by Vriddhi Cinemas, Mythri Movie Makers, and Sukumar Writings.
As per a report from Filmibeat, the team behind the film is keen to create excitement among fans, and to that end, they are planning to unveil the title reveal teaser on the occasion of Ram Charan’s birthday, 27th March. In addition to the title, it is expected that the release date will be revealed as well, sending fans into a frenzy of anticipation. However, this has yet to be confirmed officially.
Initially, the film was slated for release in the second half of 2025, but it has now reportedly been pushed to 2026 for strategic reasons. The filmmakers are said to be aiming for a Sankranthi release, hoping that the festive season will help the film regain momentum after the underwhelming performance of Game Changer. If the Sankranthi release doesn’t materialise, the film may instead be released on 26th March, coinciding with Ram Charan’s birthday.
One of the most exciting aspects of RC 16 is the special cameo appearance by none other than megastar Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan’s father, who will appear in his son’s film at the request of director Buchi Babu Sana.
This addition to the film has generated immense excitement, as fans are eager to see the iconic father-son duo share the screen. The film's launch ceremony, held on 20th March 2024, was organised on a grand scale and attended by several key figures from the industry.
Megastar Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan's wife Upasana Kamineni Konidela, director Sukumar, music maestro AR Rahman, producer Boney Kapoor, actress Janhvi Kapoor, and many others were present at the event, making it a star-studded affair.

The movie’s crew is also impressive, with Rathnavelu ISC serving as the cinematographer. Alongside Janhvi Kapoor, the cast includes renowned Kannada superstars Shiva Rajkumar and Jagapathi Babu, further adding to the film's appeal.
The collaboration between such talented individuals across various departments reflects the ambition behind the project, and it seems that RC 16 is shaping up to be a film that will capture the imagination of audiences across India.
With its exciting cast, the promise of AR Rahman’s music, and the presence of both Ram Charan and his legendary father, RC 16 is poised to become one of the most anticipated films in the coming years. Fans are hopeful that this film will mark a return to form for Ram Charan, following the underperformance of his previous project, and will deliver an unforgettable cinematic experience.
