Park Sung Hoon reveals filming the climax of Squid Game S3 and Queen of Tears on the same day: 'Emotional exhaustion was overwhelming'

K-drama actor Park Sung Hoon, best known for his recent appearance in Squid Game, The Glory and The Queen of Tears, has opened up about what he described as one of the most emotionally challenging days of his acting career.

Park joined fellow Squid Game Season 3 cast members Im Siwan, Kang Ae Sim, and Jo Yu Ri for an emotional conversation in the recently released video, "A Hide-and-Seek Scene That Makes You Want to Grab Myung Gi by the Collar." The group discussed some of the series' most impactful scenes, such as Park's character Hyun Ju's farewell appearance.

Hyun Ju, a transgender competitor, became a breakout character in Seasons 2 and 3 after touching viewers with her bravery and depth of emotion. Emotions were running high in the room as the cast rewatched Hyun Ju's tragic ending. Park revealed the intense behind-the-scenes effort required to film the sequence, saying, “The director asked if I could drop a single tear before collapsing, and we got it in the first take.” The moment called not just for physical precision, but deep emotional control.

But what really caught his fans and co-stars off guard was Park's admission that he had filmed more emotionally charged scenes that day than just Hyun Ju's death scene. After finishing the moving scene at a Daejeon studio, he hurried to Jeongseon, Gangwon-do, to film another emotionally taxing scene: Yoon Eun Seong's death scene. Yoon Eun Seong is his character in the 2024 drama Queen of Tears.
