Actress Kalyani Priyadarshan opened up about her collaboration with rapper Divine on their trending single "You & I," describing the experience as both a creative high and a significant opportunity. The song, a modern spin on R.D. Burman’s classic "Mehbooba Mehbooba" from the film Sholay, marks Priyadarshan's first foray into a non-film music video, building on the momentum of her groovier side showcased in Kiliye Kiliye.

Priyadarshan shared her genuine admiration for Divine's craft, an artist she has followed for years. She highlighted the raw emotion and honesty that define his music, noting, "His work comes straight from his heart and experiences, and that honesty is what makes it so powerful.” For her, the collaboration was more than just another project; it was an honor to work with someone whose authenticity she deeply respects.

A standout aspect of the experience was the level of trust Divine placed in his creative partners. Priyadarshan felt genuinely valued and included in his circle, which made the entire process feel intimate and collaborative. “He works with people he trusts, and being included in that creative circle for this video meant a lot to me,” she shared. “I’m genuinely grateful for the opportunity. He is an artist I truly love and admire.”

The creative process for the music video, directed by Mahi Sandhu, was a refreshing change of pace from the rigid planning of film production. Priyadarshan appreciated the music world's reliance on instinct and mood, a liberating shift that allowed for capturing authentic moments rather than adhering to a strict script. The vintage-meets-modern aesthetic of the video, set in Mumbai, showcased a new persona for the actress and was praised for its natural chemistry between the artists.
