Soon-to-be Deepika Padukone mom has claimed the top spot on the 'Highest Paid Actresses' list, surpassing many of her peers. A list compiled by Forbes, in collaboration with IMDb, reveals that Deepika charges an impressive Rs 15 to 30 crore per movie. This substantial fee makes her the highest paid actress currently, with her earnings reflecting her immense popularity and star power in the industry.
Following Deepika is Kangana Ranaut, who charges between Rs 15 to 27 crores per film. Priyanka Chopra holds the third spot, commanding fees ranging from Rs 15 to 25 crore per movie. Katrina Kaif is fourth on the list, with charges between Rs 15 to 25 crore per film.
Alia Bhatt follows in the fifth position, reportedly asking for Rs 10 to 20 crore per movie. The list also includes other notable actresses viz Kareena Kapoor Khan who charges Rs 8 to 18 crore, Shraddha Kapoor who earns Rs 7 to 15 crore, and Vidya Balan whose fees range from Rs 8 to 14 crore per film. The list concludes with Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who charge around Rs 8 to 12 crore and Rs 10 crore, respectively.
Deepika Padukone’s rise to the top is attributed to her involvement in several high-budget movies last year, such as 'Pathaan' and her cameo in 'Jawan'. This year, she is set to star in the mega-project 'Kalki 2898 AD' alongside Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan, followed by 'Singham Again'. These big-budget films have significantly contributed to her commanding salary.
Polls also suggest that Deepika and Ranveer Singh’s wedding is considered one of the most memorable Bollywood weddings, rivalling other famous couples like Virat Kohli-Anushka Sharma, Nick Jonas-Priyanka Chopra, and Vicky Kaushal-Katrina Kaif.
Deepika's top position not only highlights her star status but also reflects the evolving dynamics of pay equity in Bollywood. Her success and high earnings symbolise the significant strides female actors are making in an industry that has traditionally been male-dominated.
