The star of ‘Dune: Part 2’ Austin Butler might become the next Captain Jack Sparrow. Rumours are swirling that the ‘Elvis’ actor is being eyed as the potential lead of a new instalment in the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise.
Reportedly, Disney is very keen on working with Butler who is quickly becoming one of the most famous actors in Hollywood. Disney was also considering him for the live action remake of the animated classic ‘Hercules’.
It remains unclear right now whether Butler will get on board the Black Pearl yet or not. Nothing about the project has been confirmed as of now.
There are a lot of rumours surrounding the 6th instalment of this franchise. Initially, Margot Robbie was making headlines for being cast at the lead in a new ‘Pirates’ movie. Those reports have been squashed since then.
Additionally, there were reports of ‘The Bear’ star Ayo Edebiri joining the franchise but those rumours haven’t been confirmed or denied yet.
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed that a next instalment is imminent but the plot line and cast details are being kept under wraps right now.
There are reports that the 6th part will be completely different from the first five with a completely new storyline.
Johnny Depp was fired from the franchise after the scandal with him and Amber Heard came to light. So, it is clear that the beloved character Captain Jack Sparrow will not return.
Hence, the decision of completely rebooting the franchise.
On the work front, after the massively successful ‘Dune: Part 2’, Austin Butler has a lot of projects lined up. He will be next seen in ‘Bikeriders’ opposite Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer and Norman Reedus. The ‘Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood’ star will also be seen in a dark comedy titled ‘Eddington’, which is directed by Ari Aster and will star Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone and Pedro Pascal.
