Malayalam cinema superstar Mohanlal’s upcoming film L2: Empuraan created a historic moment as its promo was screened in New York’s iconic Times Square. The event, held ahead of the film’s grand release on March 27, 2025, witnessed an overwhelming turnout of over 300 fans, who gathered to celebrate the much-anticipated sequel.
Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, L2: Empuraan is the sequel to Lucifer, which marked Prithviraj’s directorial debut and became one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films of all time.
The sequel, featuring an ensemble cast including Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Abhimanyu Singh, and even international actor Jerome Flynn, has generated massive excitement among fans worldwide.
The screening event in Times Square saw devoted Mohanlal fans expressing their excitement in full spirit.
Dressed in traditional white shirts and dhotis with face masks of the legendary actor, the crowd erupted in cheers as Mohanlal’s name flashed on the big screen. Videos from the event went viral, capturing the electrifying atmosphere as fans whistled and shouted in celebration.

There were earlier speculations about a possible delay in the film’s release due to reports that Lyca Productions had exited the project. Additionally, the absence of active promotions and a delayed trailer launch fueled concerns among fans.
However, Mohanlal himself put these rumors to rest with a significant announcement on March 16, confirming that the first show of L2: Empuraan will begin at 6:00 AM IST on March 27.

With its promo lighting up one of the world’s busiest entertainment hubs, Empuraan is poised to make a grand impact globally. The film’s marketing campaign is expected to intensify in the coming weeks, with the official trailer set for release soon. Given the hype surrounding Lucifer’s sequel, the film is anticipated to break records upon its release.
