Teja Sajja, Manchu Manoj, Ritika Nayak and Shriya Saran starrer fantasy-drama Mirai is performing strongly in its first week.
In a remarkable feat, the Karthik Ghattamaneni directorial has grossed more than Rs 50 crore at the box office worldwide in just two days of release.
People Media Factory, the production house backing the film, shared the collection data on Saturday in a post on social media. The caption read, “#SuperYodha is breaking boundaries and blazing at the box office. Rs 55.6 CR Worldwide GROSS in 2 DAYS for #Mirai. Experience #BrahmandBlockbusterMirai ONLY IN CINEMAS.”
According to data by industry tracker, Mirai earned Rs 14.40 crore net in India on day 2, which also marks the film's first Saturday post-release.
On its second day, the Hindi version of Mirai collected Rs 3.10 crore, marking a 77.14% growth compared to the previous day. Regions such as Mumbai and Punjab recorded a 100% increase, and the film is expected to maintain steady momentum on Sunday.
On Day 2, the Hindi (2D) version of Mirai recorded an occupancy of 8.03% for morning shows, which increased to 20.90% in the afternoon. While there were no evening shows reported, the night shows registered a higher occupancy of 27.83%.
As per Mirai's review by MoneyControl, "Mirai gets right to the point, which is different from a lot of commercial acts. The plot quickly takes you into the world of the Nine and their guardians with stylish visuals, art design, and skillful stunt choreography. The interval block is one of the best parts of the movie, especially the wonderful bird scene."
Mirai follows the journey of Vedha (played by Teja), a young man fated to rise as a powerful Yodha, or warrior, and take on the forces of evil. His adversary, Mahabir Lama — known as the Black Sword (portrayed by Manoj) — is on a quest to find the nine ancient grandhas, sacred texts left behind by Emperor Ashoka, in his pursuit of ultimate power. The film was released in theatres on September 12.
