Actor Saif Ali Khan was brutally attacked at his Bandra home months ago, and his family is still dealing with the trauma of the incident.
For the first time, Kareena Kapoor Khan has opened up about the impact the incident has had on her as a wife and mother in an emotional and honest interview with journalist Barkha Dutt on Mojo Story.
In the eyes of their kids, Taimur and Jeh, Kareena called her husband a “Iron Man,” describing the emotional turmoil she experienced after the violent incident. She shared the upsetting truth of someone breaking into her son's room while thinking back on the terrifying aftermath.
“When you lose someone, you never really get over it. I don’t want to live in that fear for my children because that’s also wrong to put that stress on them. So it’s been a tough journey to manoeuvre from fear and anxiety to balancing the fact that I am a mother and I am also a wife,” she admitted.
The Jab We Met actress went on to share how deeply unsettling it was to know that an intruder had entered their private space. “I am still kind of struggling with what it does to see someone there in your child’s room. In Mumbai, you never really hear about such incidents… I was very anxious for the first couple of months. It was very difficult to sleep and get back to the person with that kind of normalcy.”
Kareena also spoke lovingly of her youngest son Jeh, who views his father as nothing short of a superhero. “My little one still says, ‘My father is Batman and Iron Man. He can take on anyone.’ We are definitely stronger as a unit.”
Towards the end of the conversation, she reflected on how the traumatic incident exposed their children to life’s harsher truths. “They have seen blood and everything, but that trauma… will make Taimur and Jeh a lot more of a different kind of man… I am just hoping that’s what is going to come out of it,” she said.
On January 16, an intruder broke into Saif Ali Khan's flat on the 12th floor and stabbed him several times. Five days after undergoing emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital, he was released. Shortly after the incident, Shehzad, the attacker, was captured.
