The video, originally posted on TikTok, showed Kim unwrapping the extravagant gifts, a red crocodile Hermès Birkin bag from 2001 designed by Jean Paul Gaultier, and a smaller Hermès Kelly Cut clutch. The Birkin alone is valued between $150,000 and $200,000, while the Kelly Cut is estimated around $30,000. What began as a luxury unboxing quickly turned into a viral debate about privilege, entitlement, and family dynamics.

In the video, Kim recounted how she had once kept the same Birkin bag on hold but never confirmed the purchase due to her busy schedule with law school. She claimed that Kris, unaware of her prior interest, ended up buying that exact bag for Kylie Jenner’s birthday. “She gave away my swag and then acted like she’d never heard of it before,” Kim said while half-laughing, half-grumbling at the camera. She later admitted that Kris “made up for it” by tracking down another rare version of the same bag for her birthday.

But her comments didn’t sit well with fans. Many felt her tone was dismissive toward her mother’s gesture and out of touch with reality. One user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “She didn’t even thank her mom properly. How do you complain about a $200K gift?” Another commented, “So out of touch.
