The iconic Harry Potter franchise is getting a full-length web series, and fans can’t keep calm. However, Potterheads are going gaga as the global digital publisher of Harry Potter, Pottermore Publishing, and Audible have revealed an impressive cast for Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions.
These new versions of J.K. Rowling’s original seven books will provide a completely new listening experience. They include high-quality sound with Dolby Atmos, original music, realistic sound effects, and performances by well-known actors.
The first audiobook, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, will come out on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. The other six audiobooks will follow monthly for listeners worldwide. Casting wrapped up earlier in 2025, and production is almost finished. More than 2,000 hours went into recording these full, unabridged editions.
The full-cast audio editions of Harry Potter will have a great lineup of talented actors. Golden Globe winner Hugh Laurie will voice Albus Dumbledore. Matthew Macfadyen, who has won an Emmy, Golden Globe, and BAFTA, will play Lord Voldemort. Riz Ahmed, an Academy Award and Emmy winner, will take on the role of Professor Snape. Michelle Gomez, a BAFTA nominee, will voice Professor McGonagall.
The narration will be led by Cush Jumbo OBE, a Laurence Olivier Award and Critics' Choice Award nominee.
In the first three audiobooks, Frankie Treadaway will play Harry Potter, Max Lester will take on Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton will portray Hermione Granger. From the fourth audiobook onward, Jaxon Knopf will voice Harry, Rhys Mulligan will voice Ron, and Nina Barker-Francis will voice Hermione, continuing through to the last instalment.
Talking about the audio series, Hugh Laurie shared, “I’m honoured to have been trusted with the keys to Albus Dumbledore, and thrilled to be able to take him around the track of this beautiful incarnation by Pottermore and Audible.”
He added, “I’m also deeply conscious of previous drivers Richard Harris, Michael Gambon, Jude Law and the iconic narrations by Jim Dale and colleague Sir Stephen Fry. Just below the horizon, but headed our way, is the rough beast John Lithgow, his hour come round at last. This is a great company, and it’s a privilege to be among their number.”
