It seems Halle Berry might have had a change of heart when it comes to following the newly instated dress code at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. Just days prior, the actress, who is currently serving as a jury member, expressed her intention to abide by the rules. However, her appearance at the premiere of Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning suggests otherwise.

The buzz began when Halle walked the red carpet in a stunning, voluminous gown complete with a train – two elements that the new Cannes regulations explicitly forbid. Despite this apparent breach of the dress code, reports indicate that Halle was not denied entry to the premiere screening. This has led many to believe that while she seemingly broke the rules, there were no immediate consequences.

The introduction of the new dress code caught many attendees, including Halle, off guard. It was announced a mere day before the festival commenced, causing a last-minute wardrobe adjustment for the Oscar winner. Speaking at a Cannes jury press conference, Berry revealed, "I had an amazing dress by Gupta that I cannot wear tonight because it's too big of a train. I'm not going to break the rules." Consequently, she opted for a chic black and white gown by Jacquemus for her Day 1 appearance, a dress that adhered to the no-train stipulation.

Despite her initial commitment, it appears that witnessing other attendees sporting extravagant trains and voluminous gowns might have influenced Halle's decision. On Wednesday, she graced the premiere of the latest Mission Impossible film in a striking black and pink Celia Kritharioti gown. The dress featured a dramatic high-low skirt with significant volume and, notably, a train.
