Fans of Haider were filled with emotion when actress Tabu shared a recent photo with Shahid Kapoor and director Vishal Bhardwaj. The picture, shared on her Instagram, came with the caption “Laqt-e-jigars,” a phrase that means “pieces of my heart.” This small moment brought a wave of nostalgia for fans who still remember the powerful film the trio created together.
Haider, released in 2014, was a modern-day Indian adaptation of Shakespeare’s famous tragedy Hamlet. It was set in Kashmir and dealt with deep themes of loss, revenge, and political conflict. Tabu played Ghazala, a layered and emotional role, while Shahid Kapoor played her son, Haider. Vishal Bhardwaj directed the film, giving it a haunting yet poetic touch. The movie was both a critical and commercial success.
After Tabu shared the photo, fans rushed to comment. One called them the “champions league” of Indian cinema. Another wrote, “People who brought Shakespeare into Indian cinema.” One excited fan asked, “Omg? What’s going on? New project or what??????” Everyone is now wondering if this reunion is just a friendly moment or a hint at a new film.
In an old interview with Screen, Shahid Kapoor spoke about the most difficult scene he had to shoot in Haider. He remembered a powerful moment at his father’s grave. “The camera was far away, and I had a lot of space,” he said. “I didn’t want to use glycerin to cry. I wanted it to be real. I remember standing in front of the grave. I asked if I could sit. They said maybe later. I don’t remember much of that moment. I just know my hands went numb—it was very cold. I think I had put them in ice. The next thing I remember is Vishal sir holding me and telling me the shot was already over.”
Haider was a hit, both in India and around the world. With a budget of Rs 35 crore, it earned Rs 56.09 crore in India and Rs 91.79 crore globally. Along with Shahid and Tabu, the film also featured Irrfan and Shraddha Kapoor in important roles.
