After intense fan protests and growing speculation, G-Dragon's agency Galaxy Corporation has finally issued an official statement for the cancellation of the Bangkok leg of the Übermensch World Tour. The announcement came a day after concert organiser AEG Presents Asia informed fans that the August 2 show at Rajamangala National Stadium would not take place, citing “unforeseen circumstances.”

Fans had launched protests against Galaxy Corporation. On July 8, protest trucks were spotted outside the agency’s building, criticising what they claimed was a string of missteps like delayed show timings (the 73-minute delay in G-Dragon’s March 29 Korea concert), ticket sales through unofficial channels, lack of legal protection against malicious rumours and excessive media exposure of the agency’s CEO, Choi Yong Ho.

Many fans speculated that the mounting backlash may have contributed to the sudden show cancellation in Thailand. But earlier today, Galaxy Corporation broke its silence and issued a public notice addressing the controversy. Contrary to reports, the label clarified that the Bangkok concert was cancelled due to safety concerns caused by record-breaking heat waves in the region.

“The cancellation of this [Bangkok] concert was a measure taken due to the characteristics of the Rajamangala National Stadium, an outdoor concert venue, amidst a series of patients suffering from heatstroke due to the unusual and record-breaking heat waves,” the statement read.
