Following Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell has summoned content creators and influencers Tanmay Bhat, Rakhi Sawant, Urfi Javed, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Raftaar and Deepak Kalal in connection with an investigation into the allegedly objectionable remarks made by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia during an episode of India’s Got Latent.
A cyber cell officer stated, “We have summoned various participants who acted as judges, artists, and hosts of all episodes one to six of the show.”
According to reports, the Maharashtra Police has filed a case against 30 individuals, including Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Mukhija, Samay Raina, Rakhi Sawant, Ashish Chanchlani, and Balraj Ghai.
On Tuesday, the Cyber Cell registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the 30 accused, including Allahbadia, in relation to the YouTube show. The accused are charged under Section 67 (transmission of obscene material in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act, as well as Sections 79 (insulting a woman’s modesty), 196 (promoting enmity between different groups), 296 (obscene acts and songs in public places), and 299 (obscene acts and songs in public places) of the Indian Penal Code, based on a complaint filed by a 38-year-old Santacruz resident and subscriber of the show.
On Wednesday, Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid and a judge on the show, appeared before the Khar police, who are conducting a separate investigation regarding the case
An officer from Khar Police Station said, "We recorded Mukhija’s statement in the presence of her lawyer." So far, the Khar police have recorded the statements of seven individuals connected to the case, but an FIR has not yet been filed.
Meanwhile, Samay Raina, a stand-up comedian involved in the show, removed all related videos from his YouTube channel. In his first public statement since the controversy over Allahbadia’s remarks, he wrote on social media, “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly.”
In a recent update, Assam Police has issued summons to YouTubers Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchlani. Summons will also be sent to Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, and Samay Raina, confirmed senior officials of Assam Police, as reported by ANI.
