Noted director and choreographer Farah Khan, who is now winning hearts with her food vlogs, has spoken about how people in the film industry reacted when her 2010 film Tees Maar Khan failed at the box office.
In her new YouTube vlog, when she visited Jackky Bhagnani and Rakul Preet Singh's home, Farah revealed that instead of offering support, many actually celebrated the film’s failure.
Her vlog, as usual, featured Farah and her now-famous cook, Dilip. She was chatting with Jackky and Rakul at their home.
During their conversation, she reflected on the harsh reactions she faced after Tees Maar Khan, which starred Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, didn’t do well.
"In our industry, more than being happy for your success, people are happier for others' failure. I remember when Tees Maar Khan was released, there was literally a celebration in the film industry. People I had worked with were saying things like, ‘Ab aayi na line pe’ (Now she’s been put in her place),” she said.
Despite the criticism, Farah shared that the film has surprisingly become a favourite with the younger generation.
"Tees Maar Khan is a legend with Gen Z. They don't care for my other films. They think that (Tees Maar Khan) is the one," she added.
Jackky also spoke about dealing with failure and mentioned the box office failure of his 2024 film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. He said he draws strength from his father, producer Vashu Bhagnani, who started his journey by selling sarees on the footpath.
Released in 2010, Tees Maar Khan was a heist comedy that made headlines for its popular song Sheila Ki Jawani featuring Katrina Kaif.
However, the film wasn't received well by critics and underperformed at the box office, despite a strong star cast.
