Television couple Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim have found themselves at the centre of social media backlash after Shoaib’s post about a “new vlog coming soon” in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack.
Just hours before terrorists linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba opened fire on a group of tourists in Pahalgam, killing at least 26 people, Dipika and Shoaib had wrapped up their family vacation in the valley and left for Delhi. The tragic attack, which occurred on Tuesday afternoon, has sent shockwaves across the country and has been described as one of the deadliest strikes in the region since Pulwama in 2019.
Shortly after news of the attack broke, concerned fans flooded the couple’s social media accounts. Dipika had been posting pictures and videos from the trip, including one where she was seen enjoying a stroll in Pahalgam just two days prior to the incident.
In response to the fans' concerns, Shoaib posted a message on Instagram reassuring everyone of their safety. “Hi guys, U all have been concerned for our well-being… Hum sab safe hain theek hain, aaj hi morning me we left Kashmir… and we reached Delhi safely… Thank you for all the concern.. New vlog coming soon,” he wrote.
The mention of an upcoming vlog sparked criticism online. Social media users, particularly on Reddit, slammed the couple for being “tone-deaf” and “insensitive” in light of the tragedy that unfolded just hours after their departure.

“He is still talking about vlog coming soon—is he mad or what?” read one comment. Another user questioned, “Do these people actually exist that YouTubers become so self-centred, delusional and insensitive at such tragic times?” A third called it a “tone-deaf post.”
Many celebrities have taken to social media to condemn the violence and call for justice. Hina Khan, who was recently in Kashmir with her mother, reacted to the attack and shared an Instagram Story, "PAHALGAM [broken heart emoji] WHY WHY WHY."
