Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna are set to come together for one of next year’s most exciting projects — Cocktail 2, the sequel to the 2012 cult hit Cocktail.
After wrapping up a stunning schedule across Italy’s scenic locations, the team was all geared up to begin filming in New Delhi from November 12.
However, plans have hit a temporary roadblock, as the Delhi leg of the shoot has now been postponed.
The decision, according to reports, comes down to two pressing concerns — rising security issues in the wake of the recent Red Fort blast and the worsening air quality in the national capital.
The production team had planned to shoot several key sequences in Old Delhi, but after the November 10 explosion near Red Fort. Security in the city has been ramped up, and restrictions on outdoor filming have made it difficult for large crews to operate smoothly.
A source close to the film explained, “The team had planned to shoot some sequences in the Old Delhi area, but due to the bomb blast that killed 13 and left several others injured, the delay is imminent.”
While the situation remains tense, the makers are in contact with authorities and intend to resume shooting once conditions improve.
Adding to their woes is Delhi’s suffocating smog. The city’s air quality has plummeted into the ‘severe’ category, with the Air Quality Index soaring to 425 earlier this week one of the worst levels seen this season.
The thick haze hanging over the city not only poses health risks for the cast and crew but also interferes with the visuals, making it nearly impossible to capture clear outdoor shots.
“The haze disrupts visibility and lighting, which affects how scenes look on camera,” said a crew member, explaining why many shoots across the city have been delayed or relocated.
The good news for fans, however, is that the delay is only temporary. The Delhi schedule hasn’t been cancelled and it is just postponed. The team reportedly plans to revisit the capital next month, once the air clears and the situation stabilises.
With Shahid, Kriti, and Rashmika leading this vibrant sequel, Cocktail 2 promises to blend charm, humour, and emotion.
