Deepika Padukone was one of the speakers at the CNBC-TV18 Global Leadership Summit held on November 7. She was seen with celebrity fashion designer and her close friend Sabyasachi.
The actress spoke about the bond she shares with Sabya, global stardom, mental health and industry stereotype among several other topics.
Deepika also talked about the most trending conversation in the film or any other industry, which is Artificial Intelligence. The actress has recently become a voice for MetaAI, and she was asked about her recent AI milestone during the session.
She recalled the time when she was mocked at by some in the initial days and to now becoming a voice for Meta AI, Deepika said, “It happened, but also interesting to know I’m someone whose voice was sort of mocked when I came in the industry and suddenly I’m the voice of Meta AI and my accent, but I continue to own it and I think that’s probably how and why it happened.”
During the session, she was also asked if she sees AI as a threat or an opportunity. The actress expressed her excitement over the possibilities AI will bring to the film industry. She also admitted that she truly believes that AI cannot replace human emotions.
She shared, “The only thing AI cannot replace is human emotions. I think that’s the only place AI will now be allowed or will not be able to match up. Can it do a similar job? Yes may be… maybe it’s not there yet.”
She continued, "So, regarding human emotion and how an actor would emote, because you can’t infuse soul into AI.”
She further emphasised that she thinks that the human soul is irreplaceable, but outside of that, she’s excited about the possibility of AI.
