The latest episode of Bigg Boss 19 turned deeply emotional as music composer-singer Amaal Mallik opened up about his painful childhood, strained family ties, and the trauma he says he has carried since before birth. Speaking with fellow contestant Baseer Ali, Amaal laid bare stories of betrayal, mistreatment, and survival that shocked both viewers and housemates.
Carrying Trauma “Since the Womb”
Amaal began by revealing that his mother suffered mistreatment from her in-laws during pregnancy. “Meri mom ko bahut kuch sunaya gaya when she was pregnant with me, they used to make her work a lot as she was living in a joint family. One day, she just smashed her hand on a cupboard in anger. She went through all this to make us reach where we are today,” Amaal said, his voice heavy with emotion. He admitted that this constant struggle has shaped him, saying, “I’ve carried trauma since the womb.”
Strained Relationship With Anu Malik
The conversation soon turned to Amaal’s relationship with his uncle and noted musician Anu Malik. While he acknowledged Anu’s musical success, he also accused him of destroying his father Daboo Malik’s career. “I saw my father in a helpless situation, taking confidence pills after years of letting him (uncle) do whatever he was doing,” Amaal recalled.
He narrated a heartbreaking incident where his father was invited to record a song, only to later discover that it was already a three-year-old track.
“Cut to my father went to a music shop at Yari Road, and the song which my father had recorded was playing in that place in Udit Narayan’s voice. When my dad asked the shop owner, he revealed that the song is from a three-year-old movie. So, he (Anu Malik) just called my dad for a mock recording,” Amaal alleged.
This betrayal, Amaal said, crushed his father’s spirit. “When Baseer asked the reason behind his uncle’s behaviour, Amaal called him an evil heart and shared that his father did not recover from the betrayal.”
A Childhood Marked by Neglect
Amaal also shared a disturbing memory from when he was seven years old. During heavy floods in Juhu, he found himself stranded outside with water up to his chest. “This family saw me outside the gate, struggling, crying and the water was till my chest. Their car was parked in front of me and I saw them locking the doors of their car. They left me, just deserted me, there were manholes on the roads,” he revealed.
It was only a family friend’s wife who rescued him and dropped him home safely. The incident, he said, left a permanent scar. “When I returned home and shared the incident, bawaal hogaya ghar par. That’s why I’m an aggressive kid. People say, ‘I abuse a lot, I have a wound trauma boss.’”
Love, Betrayal, and Blame
Despite the bitterness, Amaal admitted that when he and his cousins were teenagers, their bond was incredibly strong. “While growing up when they were 14–17, the love for each other was insane,” he said. But things changed drastically with time. He even suggested that his uncle’s changed behaviour was influenced by his aunt, remarking, “Wives are a big issue.”
Still, Amaal expressed deep respect for his father, describing him as a generous man. “Mere baap jaisa dildaar banda aaj bhi nahi,” he said, crediting both his parents for their resilience and sacrifices.

A Bold Revelation on National TV
Amaal’s candid confessions have made waves outside the Bigg Boss house as well, sparking intense discussions about family legacies, personal trauma, and the darker side of the music industry. For Amaal, this was more than just a reality show moment—it was a release of decades of pent-up pain.
In his own words: “I saw my father suffer, I saw my mom fight, and I saw myself become this aggressive kid. People say I’m damaged, but what they don’t know is I’ve been carrying wounds since childhood.”
