Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma receives Zubeen Garg’s mortal remains at Delhi airport, pays tribute with Mayabini song

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma received Zubeen Garg’s mortal remains at Delhi’s IGI Airport and offered flowers and a gamocha in tribute to the late singer.

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma received the mortal remains of the renowned singer and cultural icon Zubeen Garg on Sunday at the Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal 4, Delhi.

The singer's mortal remains were delivered to the Chief Minister on Saturday night in the national capital. Assam Chief Minister offered flowers on the coffin containing the singer's embalmed body around 12:55 a.m. The CM also placed a gamocha on the coffin.

Union Minister of External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, senior officials of the Government of Assam and the Government of India and admirers also paid floral tribute to the late singer.
The Chief Minister joined admirers in singing the well-known song ‘Mayabini’ before the coffin was raised. Zubeen Garg’s mortal remains were transported from Singapore to Guwahati via a specially chartered flight.

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that the late singer's mortal remains would be transported directly from the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport to the singer's home in Kahilipara.

To allow the singer's grieving family to spend some time with the singer's mortal remains, the CM urged Zubeen Garg’s fans to refrain from congregating at the singer's home.
