Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan recently returned to the 78th Cannes Film Festival and turned heads in two stylish appearances. However, the actress turned heads in a shimmery black gown by designer Gaurav Gupta.
However, the actress’ second appearance at Cannes 2025 grabbed attention, especially her overlong white sequin drape. Her drape holds a special spiritual message encouraging selfless action.
Aishwarya had a Bhagavad Gita verse inscribed on her drape. The verse reads, “Karmanye Vadhikaraste Ma Phaleshu Kadachana. Ma karmafalhetubhurma te Sangostvakarmani (You have a right to perform your prescribed duties, but never to the fruits of your actions. Do not consider yourself to be the cause of the results of your activities, and never be attached to not doing your duty).”
However, the actress’ special drape received praise from her fans. One person wrote, “Wow! Thank you for making India proud this year.” Another fan added, “Queen of Queens is here to serve.” A third user wrote, “Aishwarya rai Bachchan, is Queen of Cannes, Ambassador of Indian cinema, Jewel of bollywood, she is Respectful and Dignified, most beautiful woman in the world.”
Celebrity designer Gaurav Gupta also shared the details of Aishwarya’s second look. He took to his Instagram and shared a series of photos from the red carpet and wrote, “Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at the 78th Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet in Custom Gaurav Gupta Couture.”
The caption continued, “@aishwaryaraibachchan_arb wears the ‘Heiress of Clam’, a custom creation imagined in a draped form and spiritual detail. The gown is hand-embroidered with an abstract rendition of the cosmos in bursts of silver, gold, charcoal, and black, accented with micro glass crystals to capture dimension and light.”
He added while writing the Bhagavad Gita verse in Sanskrit and shared its meaning in English, “Enveloping her is a Banarasi brocade cape handwoven in Varanasi, India, inscribed with a Sanskrit shloka from the Bhagavad Gita 'You have a right to perform your actions, but not to the fruits of those actions. Let not the fruits of action be your motive, nor let your attachment be to inaction.'"
