Actor Adarsh Gourav has cleared the air around the teaser of Tu Yaa Main, revealing that the video released earlier was not an actual teaser from the film but rather an “announcement video” to test the audience’s response. In an interview with the Untriggered podcast, he confirmed, “We just shot the announcement video, which wasn’t even the teaser of the film. We haven’t shot the film.”
The film, directed by Bejoy Nambiar, is set to star Adarsh and debutante Shanaya Kapoor. Although the teaser, which dropped in March, garnered a positive reception, the actual production of the film hasn’t started yet. Shooting is scheduled to begin in June 2025.
Speaking about the genre, Adarsh described Tu Yaa Main as a “creature feature” that starts off as a romance but takes a surprising turn with the entry of a creature. “The entry of a creature shifts the entire narrative,” he said, hinting at an exciting genre blend. The plot revolves around social media influencers trying to escape a man-eating crocodile, adding a thrilling twist to the storyline.

Adarsh elaborated on the nature of announcement videos in the industry: “You know how sometimes films release an announcement video just to create buzz or test the waters. It’s not that they are uncertain about making the film—at least, I hope not. This isn’t getting shelved.”
Reflecting on the shoot of the teaser, Adarsh admitted it was made with limited preparation. “I feel like when we shot it, we had only a preliminary understanding of the character, because we were working off the sides provided to us,” he shared. He also noted how much the script has evolved since then. “I have read the script, but it’s changed a lot from what it was six months ago. So you end up projecting your own idea of the character because you haven’t yet done the research.”
Adarsh praised the film’s direction and post-production team, crediting them for covering up his uncertainties during the shoot. “This is where good directing and editing save your a**. All the wrong choices I made as an actor that day were edited out.”
Tu Yaa Main is expected to release on Valentine’s Day next year. The film is produced by Anand L Rai and promises a unique cinematic experience combining romance, thriller, and survival genres.
Meanwhile, Shanaya Kapoor is also working on Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan, co-starring Vikrant Massey, which is set to release on July 11. Adarsh is preparing for his South Indian debut in a Telugu psychological thriller backed by DVV Danayya and directed by Baba Shashank, expected to release in 2025.
