The Kaiserganj Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh is one of the state’s 80 Lok Sabha constituencies. It comprises five Vidhan Sabha seats, including Payagpur, Kaiserganj, Katra Bazar, Colonelganj, and Tarabganj, and is scheduled for polling in the fifth phase on May 20.
Historically, the constituency has witnessed alternating periods of dominance by various parties, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) currently enjoying momentum after winning the last two Lok Sabha elections in 2014 and 2019.
Amidst allegations of sexual harassment against incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Brij Bhusan Sharan Singh, the BJP has nominated his son, Karan Bhusan Singh. The Kaiserganj constituency, neighbouring Ayodhya in east Uttar Pradesh, will see Karan fighting his debut election in his father’s name.
Brij Bhusan Sharan Singh held considerable influence over the constituency, winning from here six times, five as the BJP candidate and once on a Samajwadi Party (SP) ticket. He currently faces allegations of sexual harassment levelled against him by six female wrestlers. Known as a strongman Thakur leader, his influence extends across east UP.

Meanwhile, SP has selected Ram Bhagat Mishra as its candidate for the Kaiserganj Lok Sabha seat. Mishra, a former member of the Congress party who later joined the BJP and subsequently the SP, is expected to pose a strong challenge against the BJP's nominee.
The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has chosen Narendra Pandey, as its electoral candidate from Kaiserganj.
Kaiserganj is dominated by the Brahmin community, which comprises about 30% of its population; it also includes 20% Thakurs, 10% Kurmis (OBC), 10% Dalits, and 15% Muslims. By nominating Narendra Pandey, a Brahmin, as its candidate from Kaiserganj, the BSP has shown its resolve in these elections.
In the 2019 polls, Brij Bhushan defeated the BSP’s Chandradev Ram Yadav by over 2.61 lakh votes.
