Karimnagar, one of the 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana, boasts a rich political history dating back to its establishment in 1952. Initially a Congress stronghold, the constituency has witnessed a diverse political landscape, with victories claimed by various parties including the Telangana Praja Samithi, Bharatiya Janata Party, and Telugu Desam Party during different electoral periods. However, the emergence of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) marked a significant shift in Karimnagar's political dynamics, especially with the election of TRS founder Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, who secured the seat three times during the Telangana movement.

Comprising seven Legislative Assembly constituencies, Karimnagar's political scene has undergone substantial changes over the years, reflecting the evolving preferences of its electorate.
