The Patna Sahib Lok Sabha constituency, created after the 2008 delimitation, was previously part of the Patna Lok Sabha constituency in Bihar. It comprises six Vidhan Sabha segments: Bakhtiarpur, Digha, Bankipur, Kumhrar, Patna Sahib, and Fatuha.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded its sitting Member of Parliament, Ravi Shanker Prasad, for a second consecutive term from this seat. Prasad replaced Shatrughan Sinha in 2019, after Sinha had won the constituency in its inaugural elections in 2009 and then again in 2014. Sinha, who has since joined the Trinamool Congress, has shifted base to Asansol in West Bengal.
Prasad, a member of the Narendra Modi cabinet since 2014, has held the position of Law Minister three times.
The I.N.D.I.A alliance has nominated Anshul Avijit of the Congress and son of former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, as their candidate. Avijit will be making his electoral debut in this election and has been a national spokesperson of the Congress for many years.

The Patna Sahib constituency has been a stronghold for the BJP since its inception, with Shatrughan Sinha securing victories in 2009 and 2014, and Ravi Shanker Prasad continuing the BJP's dominance in 2019.
The demographic makeup of Patna Sahib reflects a predominantly urban population, constituting 72 per cent of the electorate, with the remaining 28 per cent living in rural areas. The socio-religious fabric is characterised by a Hindu majority of 90 per cent, with a Muslim minority of 5 per cent.
The Patna Lok Sabha seat is historically and culturally sacred to the Sikh community, as this is the place where the last Sikh guru Gobind Singh, was born.
The Patna Sahib constituency is set to vote in the last phase of the Lok Sabha Election on June 1.
