Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will hold meetings in every Assembly constituency of Delhi to boost the March 31 mega rally of the Opposition INDIA bloc at Ramleela Maidan in protest against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest.
The meetings will start on March 27 evening to mobilise AAP workers and garner support from the people, party officials said. AAP legislators, municipal councilors, and party functionaries will attend the meetings.
The joint opposition front has said that the rally is not political, but a call to save the country’s democracy, Constitution and raise the voice against the Centre’s vendetta politics.
The rally of the INDIA bloc is expected to see participation from all 27 constituents. “To fight against the fear unleashed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Aam Aadmi Party will go door to door. We are at the forefront to spread the message of Arvind Kejriwal. All our leaders are also changing the display pictures on their social media accounts that Modi’s biggest fear is Arvind Kejriwal,” said Delhi minister Atishi.
The AAP convenor was arrested in a corruption case linked to the Delhi liquor policy on March 21 and the Rouse Avenue Court remanded him in the Enforcement Directorate’s custody till March 28.
The AAP leaders have maintained that there will be no change in the leadership, even if that means Kejriwal functioning as the chief minister from jail. The chief minister has so far issued two orders from the custody.
His first order was supplying water tanks to the areas in Delhi facing water scarcity and the second was about addressing health concerns in the national capital.
