The CBSE Class 12 Mathematics Examination for 2025 was conducted today, March 8, across various exam centres. The exam started at 10:30 AM and ended at 1:30 PM, with the first 15 minutes allocated for students to read the question paper.
Exam Structure and Difficulty Level
The exam was of moderate difficulty, with a balanced mix of question types. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) were generally easy to moderate, primarily based on the NCERT syllabus. Students who prepared adequately found these questions accessible. However, a few MCQs were considered tricky, even by high-scoring students.
Short and Very Short Answer Questions were the easiest section, allowing students to score well without much difficulty. Long Answer Type Questions, on the other hand, posed a greater challenge. Some of these were deemed difficult, requiring a deeper understanding and strong application skills.
The paper also included some Previous Year Questions (PYQs), making it familiar to students who had practised extensively. Among the different sets, Set 1 was considered the easiest, while Set 3 was comparatively more difficult. In terms of sections, Sections A and E were reported to be more challenging than the others.
Students' Feedback
The Maths paper was moderate in difficulty, many students found the questions easy to attempt, though the numerical problems required more time and effort. Students who had prepared well found them manageable, while others faced some challenges. Feedback varied depending on individual preparation levels.
Some students found the paper slightly more difficult than previous years but still manageable due to thorough preparation. Those who had practised using study resources and previous question papers found several questions familiar, which boosted their confidence.
A significant concern among students was the length of the paper. While some found it manageable, others struggled to complete it within the given time.

Teachers' Review
Teachers reviewed the paper as balanced and straightforward, with most questions aligning with the CBSE Board Class 12 Maths syllabus 2025. They noted that the paper tested conceptual clarity, especially in numerical sections.
While the paper was not overly difficult, it required logical thinking and practice. The inclusion of familiar questions helped students who had prepared well, but those who struggled with time management found it more challenging.
CBSE Class 12 Maths Marking Scheme 2025
The question paper was divided into multiple sections, each with a specific type of question:
- Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Assertion-Reason Questions: 20 questions carrying 1 mark each.
- Very Short Answer Questions: 5 questions carrying 2 marks each.
- Short Answer Questions: 6 questions carrying 3 marks each.
- Long Answer Questions: 4 questions carrying 5 marks each.
- Source-Based/Case-Based Questions: 3 questions carrying 4 marks each.
The CBSE Class 12 board exams started on February 15 and will continue until April 4, 2025. The board exams are being conducted for around 44 lakh students from approximately 8,000 schools in India and abroad.
