Delhi-NCR woke up to heavy rains in the early hours of Tuesday, bringing relief from the persistently humid weather. However, the rain also left Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, and Gurugram struggling with waterlogged streets and traffic snarls.
According to The Daily Jagran, Minto Bridge, Vijay Chowk, Moti Bagh flyover, Rafi Marg, and Nizamuddin flyover witnessed intense showers.
The downpour, which began late on Monday night, caused traffic disruptions during Tuesday's morning rush hour across key roads and underpasses.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city and surrounding areas will remain under a yellow alert for the day, with forecasts of thunderstorms and rain.
According to The Daily Jagran, Tuesday’s maximum temperature is expected to hover around 340°C, while the minimum is likely to be about 25 0°C.
Light showers are predicted to continue until Wednesday, followed by moderate rainfall on Thursday and Sunday (17 August).
As per the report, daytime temperatures are expected to dip slightly, settling between 310°C and 320°C instead of the recent 34–350°C highs.
Senior meteorologist Mahesh Palawat was quoted by The Daily Jagran as saying that a change in wind patterns will contribute to this slight cooling, offering some respite from the persistent summer heat.
Traffic disruptions expected across NCR According to the report, commuters faced a tough time on Tuesday morning, with several arterial stretches choked due to waterlogging. The NH-9 stretch connecting Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad remained heavily congested, while bottlenecks were reported at Kalindi Kunj, ITO, and Minto Bridge, the report added. In Noida, Sector 62 and Sector 18 saw slow-moving traffic, and waterlogging was reported on Rao Tularam Marg in Delhi.
