An underwater rail link between Dubai and Mumbai has been proposed which could reduce travel time to just two hours, according to a plan by the UAE’s National Advisor Bureau Limited.

The high-speed train is expected to run at speeds between 600 km/h and 1,000 km/h, improving connectivity between the two cities. While the project was proposed some years ago, there have been no major updates on its approval or development.

A YouTube account, claiming to represent the National Advisor Bureau Limited, also shared a video showing how the rail link will look once constructed. However, due to its complex engineering requirements, the project is expected to demand an investment of billions of dollars.

The underwater rail link is envisioned as an alternative to air travel, which will carry both passengers and cargo between both the cities. It could facilitate the movement of goods, including crude oil, between India and the UAE, in a bid to strengthen the trade relations.
