The counting of votes for the three MLC (Member of Legislative Council) seats each in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana began on Monday, March 3rd.
In Telangana, the polling was held on February 27 in the graduate constituency of Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar as well as the teacher constituencies of Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar and Warangal-Khammam- Nalgonda.
Polling was also conducted on February 27 for three MLC (Member of Legislative Council) seats in Andhra Pradesh (AP), including one graduate seat from the joint Godavari district, another graduate seat from Krishna-Guntur districts, and a teacher MLC seat in the Srikakulam-Vijayanagaram-Visakhapatnam region.
A mock counting was conducted on Sunday under the supervision of Returning Officer Pamela Satpathy, who addressed counting staff and emphasised adherence to protocols in Telangana. Special ballot boxes and CCTV cameras have been installed to ensure fair counting.
In AP, the returning officer and Guntur district collector S Nagalakshmi said that all the arrangements were made for the counting of votes for the Krishna-Guntur graduate constituency of legislative council. The process of counting votes began at 8 am, as per the Election Commission.
“As many as 750 staff members will work in three shifts during the counting process,” the collector said.
Candidates have been given the option to appoint agents for each shift. A three-tier security system has been established across the counting area, and entry will be restricted to those with identity cards. Cell phones will be prohibited in the counting hall, and both agents and counting staff will undergo thorough inspections before being allowed entry.
