At least 10 people have died in rain-related incidents across Maharashtra as relentless downpours battered multiple districts in over 48 hours, The Indian Express reported citing officials on Sunday.

Meanwhile, more than 11,800 people were rescued from flood-hit areas, with disaster response teams and the army working round the clock to shift families to safer shelters.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Raigad, and Palghar districts, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall on Monday. Intermittent intense showers have already left several parts of Mumbai waterlogged, though rail and road traffic have remained largely unaffected.
