The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has announced it will not initiate any new construction projects for the Ram temple complex, instead focusing its efforts on completing previously approved and ongoing works, according to a News18 report. The decision was made during a key meeting of the Trust held in Ayodhya.
Chairman of the committee, Nripendra Mishra, provided a significant financial update, revealing that approximately Rs 1,400 crore has been expended on the temple’s construction to date.
Of this sum, Rs 1,100 crore has already been disbursed from the Trust’s accounts. The remaining expenditure is allocated to allied projects, including a forthcoming museum.
A major ongoing project is the International Ram Katha Museum. As reported by News18, the museum will feature 20 separate galleries, each dedicated to depicting episodes from Lord Rama’s life through 10-minute digital presentations. The estimated cost for this ambitious project is about Rs 200 crore.
A dedicated gallery for Lord Hanuman, employing advanced 7D technology to present his stories, is also planned. The museum aims to showcase the global legacy of Lord Rama, illustrating the various countries where he is venerated and the differing cultural perceptions of the deity.
Concurrently, work on the temple complex’s boundary wall has commenced. To accelerate progress, Engineers India Limited (EIL) has engaged two contractors. Specific focus is being placed on the completion of Gate No. 3 and Gate No. 11, which are critical for future crowd management.
Gate No. 11 is scheduled to open from October 10, while work on Gate No. 3 will be completed at a later date. The Trust plans to dedicate these gates to prominent personalities from the sadhu community. The target for the completion of all such works has been set for December 2025.
The meeting also addressed practical challenges facing the construction timeline. A board director from L&T, the project’s lead contractor, stated that increasing the pace of work is contingent on increasing the number of labourers.
L&T currently employs 1,200 workers on the main temple site, while the State Construction Corporation has engaged a further 250 workers on the museum and related projects.
The Trust acknowledged that the periodic absence of workers during festival seasons has posed a significant challenge, for which strict new guidelines have now been issued.
Security preparedness was another key agenda item. The police department has procured new security equipment, which is slated to be installed at the site shortly. The Trust’s discussions also covered matters of financial transparency and ongoing administrative hurdles.
