A video, which has now gone viral shows that the unhygienic habit gutkha-spitting has also reached Bihar’s pride, the newly inaugurated Rajgir International Cricket Stadium.
The video circulating on X shows the reality at the state-of-the-art stadium, which Chief Minister Nitish Kumar opened on October 5. Despite its impressive design and 40,000-seat capacity, sections of the stadium’s bare brick walls are already marked with gutkha stains.
In the clip, the person filming, says, “Thukna chalu ho gaya. Gutkha Men saab aa gye hai inha. Attack chalu ho gaya hai” (Spitting has started. Gutkha men have arrived. The attack has begun). The caption reads, “Biharis spat gutkha at the first international cricket stadium in Bihar on its inauguration day.”
The video has gone viral, amassing over two lakh views, with many netizens sharing their opinions. “Gutkha should not be allowed just like guns and knives,” an X user said. Another user asked, “Why don’t we ban gutkha? This problem will not go away until we ban it completely.”
One user quipped, “That’s a signature mark to remind that paint work is still pending here.” Another wrote, “That’s the Bihari way of inauguration. Don’t be surprised.”
Yet another expressed concern over infrastructure, commenting, “The more disturbing part is that the wall is not plastered. India should push that last 10% to make infrastructure look elite rather than kaam chalau attitude Wala kaam.”
