A shocking video that allegedly features a doctor and her children physically assaulting her elderly in-laws in Karnataka has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage and calls for severe action against her. A case has been registered against Dr. Priyadarshini N, a Bengaluru-based physician, for allegedly assaulting and harassing her in-laws, according to reports from The Times of India.
J. Narasimaiah, Priyadarshini's father-in-law, filed a complaint with the Annapoorneshwarinagar police. He reported that on March 10, 2025, Priyadarshini, accompanied by her son and daughter, arrived at his residence and verbally and physically assaulted him, his wife, and their son, Naveen Kumar.
Narasimaiah stated that his son, who married Priyadarshini in 2007, had sought a divorce. He claimed that Priyadarshini came to their home at 8:30 PM and insisted on severe police action against her following the incident.
In response, Priyadarshini told The Times of India that her in-laws provoked her. She stated that she went to her husband's house to address his failure to provide financial support for their children. According to Priyadarshini, after feeling overwhelmed, she and her children overreacted, and her in-laws recorded the incident on video. The police are currently investigating the claims made by both parties, including the now-viral video.
A social media post alleged that Priyadarshini's 80-year-old father-in-law, who is a heart patient, was kicked and stamped upon, while her mother-in-law, a cancer survivor, was dragged by her mangalsutra for over five minutes. The post further claimed that the in-laws had been living separately for more than a decade due to mistreatment by the doctor and accused her of violating a court order by forcibly entering their rented home and physically attacking them. The video purportedly shows Priyadarshini yelling, pulling her mother-in-law by the hair, and her daughter kicking the elderly couple.
Social media comments accuse Priyadarshini of a history of harassing her in-laws. She has not publicly denied these allegations. Netizens, reacting to the video, have demanded harsh punishments and judicial reforms to prevent such incidents in the future, with one user commenting, "This is more than horrifying! No elderly parents should have to endure such cruelty."
Narasimaiah also informed the police that Priyadarshini had made death threats during the altercation. The police have filed a case under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including voluntarily causing hurt, wrongful restraint, criminal intimidation, and intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace.
