A surprise bag check at a school in Ghoti, Nashik, revealed items such as condoms, knives, and playing cards in the bags of students from Classes 7 to 10. A video of the search has since gone viral on social media.
The incident unfolded after the school vice principal carried out a surprise bag inspection. The items seized included brass knuckles, sharp knives, bicycle chains, condom packets, letter boxes, and even suspected narcotic substances from students' bags.
"The objectionable items found in the children's backpacks were not discovered all at once. Different items have been found in the bags of different students over the past several days. To discourage students from developing criminal tendencies, we check their backpacks every day," the vice principal said while speaking to the media.
Teachers of the school fear that some of the students may be using drugs, possibly even on school grounds. The incident has been reported to local authorities, and a thorough investigation is currently in progress. In the meantime, educators and families are calling for strict action and stronger measures to reinforce student discipline and enhance safety within the school premises, Lokmat Times reported.
The parents have also welcomed the school's initiative to inspect students' backpacks. One parent said, "The initiative being implemented by the school's teachers and principal is right because this is an age of misguidance. After parents, only teachers can instil good morals in children, so we support this initiative."
