Anthropic co-founder Dario Amodei is set to meet top leaders of information technology giant Infosys at the company’s Bengaluru campus during his India visit this week, people familiar with the matter told Moneycontrol.
Who is he meeting?
Amodei is expected to meet Rafee Tarafdar, Infosys Chief Technology Officer, and Balakrishna DR, Global Head of AI and Industry Verticals, sources told Moneycontrol.
Moneycontrol had earlier reported that Infosys chairman Nandan Nilekani will also host a dinner with Amodei for select startup founders in the city.
On October 8, Anthropic announced plans to open its first India office in Bengaluru. Amodei is visiting India to meet with public officials and enterprise partners to highlight the firm’s commitment to developing responsible AI systems that promote social benefit and economic growth, the company said.
Moneycontrol was first to report about Anthropic's plans to open an office in Bengaluru and Amodei's India visit on October 7. During his trip, Amodei may also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi to discuss the company's future plans and potential collaborations.

Why is Anthropic expanding its global presence?
These developments come as Anthropic looks to expand its international presence to meet the growing demand for its Claude AI models outside the United States.
The company's global customer base has grown from fewer than 1,000 business customers two years ago to over 300,000 today, representing more than 300-fold growth. Anthropic's run-rate revenue has also surged, rising from $87 million at the start of 2024 to around $1 billion at the beginning of 2025, and surpassing $5 billion by August 2025.
Why is India important for Anthropic?
India is the largest market for Anthropic's Claude AI models outside the United States in terms of usage. A disproportionately high amount of Claude usage in India is for technical tasks and software development, such as mobile UI development and web app debugging, according to the company's recently released Economic Index.
Through strategic partnerships with Indian enterprises, nonprofits, and startups, Anthropic stated that it aims to empower India's entrepreneurial ecosystem to develop the next generation of globally competitive companies, deploying AI for social impact in sectors such as education, healthcare and agriculture.

Tell me about Infosys's AI initiatives?
Infosys, India's second-largest IT firm, has been working on AI extensively in the past couple of years. It's Generative AI projects surged by over 75 percent to over 400 projects in FY25.
Moreover, the Bengaluru-based company has developed four small language models (SLMs) targeted at banking, IT operations, cybersecurity, and broad enterprise use.
In February, Infosys launched an open-source Responsible AI Toolkit, part of its Topaz Responsible AI Suite, aimed at helping enterprises innovate responsibly while tackling the ethical challenges and risks of AI adoption.
The toolkit includes advanced technical guardrails to detect and mitigate issues such as privacy breaches, security attacks, biased output, and harmful content.

Does Infosys have partnerships with other tech giants?
Infosys has a strategic partnership with Google Cloud, collaborating across centres of excellence and developing joint solutions for enterprise AI transformation. In May 2025, the company launched more than 200 enterprise AI agents powered by Infosys Topaz AI offerings and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI Platform.
Last year, Infosys also expanded its collaboration with social networking giant Meta by unveiling a Centre of Excellence. The centre is expected to build a large talent pool on Meta’s Llama stack, develop industry-specific use cases, and work closely with Meta to help customers integrate the Llama stack effectively.
