US President Donald Trump said he will visit China in early 2026 after what he called a “very productive” phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The two leaders discussed a broad range of issues, including trade, fentanyl trafficking, the war in Ukraine, and the approval of a deal allowing TikTok to continue operating in the United States, according to Trump's Truth Social post.
“I just completed a very productive call with President Xi of China. We made progress on many very important issues including Trade, Fentanyl, the need to bring the War between Russia and Ukraine to an end, and the approval of the TikTok Deal," Donald Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
The US President also added that he and Xi Jinping agreed to meet in person at the APEC summit in South Korea.
"I also agreed with President Xi that we would meet at the APEC Summit in South Korea, that I would go to China in the early part of next year, and that President Xi would, likewise, come to the United States at an appropriate time. The call was a very good one, we will be speaking again by phone, appreciate the TikTok approval, and both look forward to meeting at APEC!" he further added.
Donald Trump emphasized the TikTok negotiations during his recent call with Xi Jinping, thanking the Chinese leader for his “approval” of the deal, which aims to address US national security concerns while keeping the app operational in the country.
TikTok, with an estimated 170 million users in the United States, faces a December 16 deadline to finalize its sale after Trump granted a fourth extension earlier this week. Under a law passed by Congress last year, the app’s US operations must be transferred to American ownership due to concerns over China’s data-sharing laws.
