US President Donald Trump is reportedly frustrated over continued aerial strikes by Russia and Ukraine, despite his attempts to broker peace, The Telegraph reported on March 23, citing sources close to him.
Following Trump’s recent calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the Kremlin announced a 30-day pause on strikes targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Kyiv welcomed a mutual halt on energy attacks but accused Russia of continuing strikes on civilian areas.
Washington and Kyiv had previously pushed for a broader 30-day ceasefire covering all combat operations, but Moscow rejected the proposal unless it included a halt on foreign military aid to Ukraine and other conditions that would weaken Kyiv’s defense capabilities.
According to The Telegraph, Trump remains committed to mediating a ceasefire but is growing impatient with the lack of progress. However, White House officials and those closest to him are reportedly maintaining a measured approach, urging patience.
Meanwhile, hostilities continue on both sides. Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities killed at least four people and injured 13 in the past 24 hours, regional officials said on March 24.
Ukraine has also reportedly targeted Russian infrastructure. Russian authorities claimed that Ukrainian drones attacked the Kavkazskaya oil pumping station in Krasnodar Krai on March 19, sparking a fire that has persisted for five days.
On March 21, Moscow accused Kyiv of shelling the Sudzha gas metering station in Russia’s Kursk region, a key facility for gas exports to Europe. Ukraine’s General Staff denied the allegation, dismissing it as a Russian provocation.
