Tensions between India and Pakistan have sharply intensified following the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 civilians.

The attack, claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), a group widely believed to be a proxy of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, has triggered a wave of diplomatic and political fallout in the region.

In the wake of the incident, Israel's Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, compared the Pahalgam attack to the Hamas-led assault on Israel that took place on October 7, 2023. That attack resulted in the deaths of over 1,100 people.

Azar highlighted disturbing similarities between the two events, particularly in the way unarmed civilians were deliberately targeted. He also warned of increasing cooperation among terror groups, underlining the growing threat they pose globally.

New Delhi has responded to the incident by taking a number of severe actions against Islamabad. The Indus Waters Treaty has been suspended, Pakistani visas have been revoked, Indian airspace has been closed to Pakistan, and the Attari-Wagah border in Amritsar has been closed.
