US President Donald Trump on Thursday launched a blistering attack on Harvard University, labeling the Ivy League institution as an “Anti-Semitic, Far Left” entity and calling it a “threat to Democracy.”
In a Truth Social post, Trump accused Harvard of admitting students “from all over the world that want to rip our country apart,” referring to the campus as a “liberal mess” and criticizing what he described as a growing culture of “fake anger and hate.”
“The place is a Liberal mess, allowing a certain group of crazed lunatics to enter and exit the classroom and spew fake ANGER AND HATE. It is truly horrific!” Trump wrote.
The president also took aim at a lawyer affiliated with Harvard who has represented him in legal matters, suggesting the individual should resign or be dismissed. “Now, since our filings began, they act like they are all ‘American Apple Pie.’ Harvard is a threat to Democracy, with a lawyer, who represents me, who should therefore be forced to resign, immediately, or be fired,” he said, adding, “He’s not that good, anyway.”
The remarks come amid heightened scrutiny of U.S. university campuses, particularly elite institutions, over rising tensions related to free speech, pro-Palestinian protests, and accusations of antisemitism. Harvard, in particular, has faced criticism from political leaders and donors in recent months over its handling of campus demonstrations and statements on international conflicts.
