When it comes to creating videos for YouTube, music has always been an area where creators tend to struggle a bit. YouTube has a strict copyright policy and often videos get flagged over music, Now, YouTube has rolled out an upgraded “erase song” tool, designed to help creators swiftly remove copyrighted music from their videos. The new tool employs an AI-powered algorithm to accurately detect and remove copyrighted music. Earlier, users didn’t have a choice to remove the objectionable part.

Videos get a “Content ID claim” if there is an issue with copyright music. There may be restrictions on where the video is viewable or whether it can be monetised. “To remove the claim and the associated restrictions, you can edit out the claimed content without having to upload a new video,” said YouTube on its support page.

Users will now have the option to edit out just the claimed segment from their video. They will also have the option to replace the song. If the audio in your video is claimed, you may be able to replace the claimed audio with other audio from the YouTube Audio Library. There’s another option of muting the song — if the audio in your video is claimed, you may be able to mute the claimed audio. You can choose to mute just the song or all the video's audio.
