Recently, multiple reports suggested that Samsung will revamp its Galaxy S26 lineup next year, dropping the Plus and the vanilla model in favour of a super slim Edge and more powerful Pro variant. However, it seems that the company is changing its plans just a few months before the official launch, as a new Korean report suggests that Galaxy 26 Plus may eventually be unveiled due to the ‘sluggish sales’ of the Galaxy S25 Edge, which was launched as the company’s first super slim smartphone, earlier this year.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus may be revived: Key details
Citing industry sources, South Korean publication The Elec reports that Samsung has recently begun production of a purported ‘M Plus’ model, which is claimed to refer to the Plus variant in the soon-to-be-launched Galaxy S26 series. Previously, this handset was rumoured to be omitted from the company's 2026 S26 lineup, with reports suggesting that only three phones are in development: Galaxy S26 Pro (M1), Galaxy S26 Edge (M2), and Galaxy S26 Ultra (M3).
However, the report adds that owing to poor sales of this year’s Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, which was introduced as an ultra-slim addition to the Galaxy S25 lineup and a competitor to the recently launched iPhone Air, the company has made this decision. Moreover, the company plans to produce around 300,000 units of the S25 Edge in the coming months of 2025.
Interestingly, the Plus model has consistently seen the lowest demand in Samsung’s flagship lineup. Hence, the company had hoped that the S25 Edge would outperform it, and it would eventually replace the Plus model next year. The report adds that Apple followed a similar strategy with this year’s iPhone 17 series, replacing the Plus model with ultra-slim iPhone Air, which was also a low-selling model in Apple's lineup.
